A: as stated on one of the poster in the listing, it is DDR 333 or 266 memory.

Question: I read from the above flyers that SATA is supported but everything else mentioned is SCSI. Can I really use SATA drives in this file server system ?

Answer:

The motherboard supports either SCSI 320 or SATA depending on which daughter board is installed. The daughter board that is currently installed in this system is the dual-port SCSI 320 version. Sorry, we do not sell this SATA daughter card. Fortunately, this system comes with 3x PCI-X 64/100Mhz slots and 2x PCI-Ex 4 slots which allows you the opportunity to purchase SATA controller add-on cards elsewhere.

On the back of the 6 mobile rack drive bays is equipped complete with a SCSI 320 back plane. This setup allows SCSI 320 drives to be inserted or removed almost instantly. If you would like to use SATA hard drives in this drive chassis, you would need to remove the SCSI 320 back plane and install a SATA back plane instead. As we also do no sell this SATA back plane, some buyers who do not require the instant hot-swap removability feature simply have the SCSI 320 back plane removed and connect SATA hard drives to the system via long workable SATA cables.

Q: Is the backplane included 68pin or 80pin.

A: U320 SCSI is 80pin


Q: This looks like a good system to begin customization based on exactly what we need our server do. But how would I know how much various speed/capacity of Intel Xeon CPU, DDR333 memory, and U320 SCSI hard drives cost ?
